Shopify Magic

Shopify Magic is a suite of AI features that are integrated across Shopify products and workflows to provide personalized, contextually relevant support for a range of store building, marketing, customer support, and back office management tasks. These tools are currently available for free to everyone regardless of subscription plan. However, access and availability of specific features may vary.

What does Shopify Magic do?

Automatic text generation

Shopify Magic uses the information you provide to generate content suggestions such as product descriptions, email subjects, headlines, etc. Automatic text generation relies on large language models (LLMs), which are computer programs designed to process and understand human language. LLMs work by analyzing vast amounts of textual data such as books, articles, and web pages. It is using statistical algorithms to learn patterns and relationships between words and phrases. LLMs can perform a variety of tasks, such as answering questions, translating language, summarizing text, and producing original content.

Transformation of product background (in early access mode)

Soon you will be able to instantly create, customize or remove the background of existing product images with a few clicks or keywords. You can either replace the background with a solid color, an AI-created theme, or choose from preset themes. You can easily generate new backgrounds using custom descriptive keywords or short phrases.

AI chatbot (in early access mode)

Chatbots can answer FAQs, help with orders and even solve simple problems. Shopify Magic helps you generate personalized and relevant responses to customer questions so you can respond quickly and deliver a superior customer experience. This tool uses information from your online store to automatically generate suggested responses during conversations. These suggestions will appear in the conversation panel if it meets the following requirements:

  • There is at least one message from the customer in the conversation.
  • You have not yet replied to the customer’s message.
  • Your store contains enough information to answer the customer’s question. 

After you check the accuracy and tone of the suggested response, click the Send button and that’s it.

What questions will the chatbot be able to help with?

  • discounts – e.g. sending a discount code in a conversation, when the customer clicks on it, it is automatically applied to their cart
  • terms of trade
  • shipping
  • products (in addition to product price, variants and stock levels) – e.g. sending a product link, image or video in a conversation
  • other information about the shop

Conversation management

To help you manage and prioritize your customer messages, Inbox automatically tags conversations with a topic. Each message sent by a customer is analyzed and if there is a high probability that it matches the topic, the appropriate label is automatically applied. You can also assign a chat conversation to a specific employee who has required permission to chat. A customer profile is also useful, showing details of the customer (e.g. new or returning), their location and time zone, and any relevant order details. You can also leave notes on the customer profile that are only visible to you.
